The project with Cornwall Farmers, which is part of a £800,000 investment by the business, will see all fourteen of its retail outlets linked to the system. The first deployment at the Threemilestone – Truro branch was completed in less than 36 hours over a weekend and was live on the following Monday morning. The ‘Retail Module’ installation was delivered as part of Cornwall Farmers adoption of the complete Compac Gold system and is designed to greatly enhance both the point of sale contact with members and the back office functions that link the retail network. These meet the priorities set out by Cornwall Farmers at the onset of the project with Cal Software twelve months ago. Future plans include the capability for on-line trading for members. Other modules included within the Compac Gold deployment include Back office SOP, POP, Contract Management, Financials, Feed Production for the Cornwall Farmers Blending Operation, Customer Relationship Management, Stock Control and trading requirements covering all Cornwall Farmers business divisions such as Agri-Chemicals, Feed, Grain Trading, Blends and Fertiliser. The retail network is linked by standard desk top PC’s to a Dell central server at the Cornwall Farmers head office by BT lease lines. Keith Richards, Commercial Director at Cal Software believes that the company’s experience and understanding of the sector has shaped the Compac Gold Retail Module into a powerful application for retail trading. "Inevitably each project and deployment is unique because each customer has different systems and trading requirements. Within the program build for the Retail module we look to create the maximum flexibility needed for each deployment as well as maintaining the core strengths that deliver the real advantages."
